For as long as I can remember, I’ve been insatiably passionate about growth, freedom, and hitting that ‘much dreaded and less talked about’ next level. I’ve always been a rule-breaker, a go-getter, and a comfort-zone breaker with an athlete soul….trying uncommon things, finding new ways and enjoying massive success as a result.
Being a shining student at high school and then college, success was something inevitable for me. After Bachelor’s Degree and MBA in finance, I rolled up my sleeves to grab the professional life by its proverbial horn and bring my A-Game.
My unusual combination of strengths led me to start a handbag line that ultimately became my dream project. All my products were being manufactured overseas and shipped directly to my fulfillment center. A team of agents and sales reps was at my disposal and everything was happening as planned.
Until it wasn’t.
Following my first collection, I realized I was financially strained, I had spent all of my personal savings, including cashing out a 6-figure 401K to sustain my company. When it came to launching my second collection, my business went belly up and I had my back against the wall with no money to run the business.
I decided to seek help from the banks, as any business owner in a rut would. But they turned me down, telling me there was no way out… and never mentioned once the possibility of alternative credit options.
When I started my business, I had a dream…a dream to get my brand known, cherished & remembered for the years to come. Yes! I started my passion project with handbags but I eventually wanted it to be a whole line of products, including outlandishly beautiful scarves, jewelry, gloves and so much more! I had imagined my days brainstorming novel ideas, designing my products, choosing fabrics…
Little did I know that I’d fail. And not just fail…fail miserably. I had to sell my remaining inventory to discount retailer and KABOOM! There was nothing left. My business left me emotionally crippled, because I had never failed like that before. I didn’t see it coming. Not at all.
Looking back, it was such a necessary thing that happened to me in my life.
That failure needed to happen.
That type of loss needed to happen.
Because if you never really fail, you never really try.
But this is when I realized something needed to change. Running a business, be it online or offline shouldn’t have to be that hard. I went back to the basics and learned from the best of the best in the industry. I have been certified by the National Associate of Credit Management in Business Credit and I am also a certified Personal Finance Counselor and Personal Credit Expert.
